遊戲的主角是一名夾在兩股勢力當中的一名普通僱傭兵。主角需要在整個事件中扮演
關鍵的角色，將S.T.A.L.K.E.R組織重新變成起建立初衷的樣子。
《S.T.A.L.K.E.R.晴空》的開發者表示，他們很高興有機會來完成2003年以來積攢的
創意，這些創意因為時間關係，沒能在《S.T.A.L.K.E.R.》當中得到體現。玩家在《
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.晴空》當中，將能體驗到切爾諾貝利的歷史、地理特質和基本生活環
境。
　　開發者表示，《S.T.A.L.K.E.R.晴空》當中的NPC在智慧上更接近於Stalker，你
可以在《S.T.A.L.K.E.R.晴空》當中扮演NPC的領導者。在《S.T.A.L.K.E.R.晴空》當
中，建築物和史前遺跡也將更加隱秘，玩家需要借助諸如「偵測器」等裝備，才能找
到它們。《S.T.A.L.K.E.R.晴空》當中的污染區，也需要借助專門的防護裝備才能進
入。
　　在畫質上，《S.T.A.L.K.E.R.晴空》除了支援DX10之外，開發者表示，《S.T.A.
