Sandboxie允許你在沙盤環境中運行瀏覽器或其他程式，因此運行所產生的變化可以隨後刪除。
可用來消除上網、運行程式的痕跡，也可用來還原收藏夾、主頁、註冊表等。即使在沙盤進程
中下載的文件，也會隨著沙盤的清空而刪除。此軟體在系統托盤中運行，如果想啟動一個沙盤
進程，請通過托盤圖示（而不要用原方式）啟動瀏覽器或相應程式。

Whenyourunaprogramonyourcomputer,dataflows
fromtheharddisktotheprogramviaread
operations.Thedataisthenprocessedand
displayed,andfinallyflowsbackfromtheprogamto
theharddiskviawriteoperations.

Forexample,ifyouruntheFreecellprogramtoplay
agame,itstartsbyreadingthepreviouslyrecorded
statistics,displayingandalteringthemasyouplay
thegame,andfinallywritingthembacktodiskfor
futurereference.

Sandboxiechangestherulessuchthatwrite
operationsdonotmakeitbacktoyourharddisk.

ThekeycomponentofSandboxie:atransientstorage
area,orsandbox.Dataflowsinbothdirections
betweenprogramsandthesandbox.Duringread
operations,datamayflowfromtheharddiskinto
thesandbox.Butdataneverflowsbackfromthe
sandboxintotheharddisk.

IfyourunFreecellinsidetheSandboxie
environment,Sandboxiereadsthestatisticsdata
fromtheharddiskintothesandbox,tosatisfythe
readrequestedbyFreecell.Whenthegamelater
writesthestatistics,Sandboxieinterceptsthis
operationanddirectsthedatatothesandbox.

IfyouthenrunFreecellwithouttheaidof
Sandboxie,thereadoperationwouldbypassthe
sandboxaltogether,andthestatisticswouldbe
retrievedfromtheharddisk.

Thetransientnatureofthesandboxmakesitiseasy
togetridofeverythinginit.Ifyouweretothrow
awaythesandbox,bydeletingeverythinginit,the
sandboxedstatisticswouldbegoneforgood,asif
theyhadneverbeenthereinthefirstplace.

ProtectingyourFreecellstatisticsusingSandboxie
maybeagoodideawhenalessqualifiedplayer
comesalong,butyouwillprobablywanttoplaymost
ofyourgamesoutsidethesandbox.Ontheother
hand,youmaywanttorunyourWebbrowserinside
thesandboxmostofthetime.Thiswayanyincoming,
unsolicitedsoftware(spyware,malwareandthelike)
thatyoudownload,istrappedinthesandbox.
ChangesmadetoyourlistofFavoritesorBookmarks,
hijackingofyourpreferredstartpage,newand
unwantediconsonyourdesktop--allthese,and
more,aretrappedinandboundtothesandbox.

Youcouldalsotryanewtoolbaradd-on,browser
extensionorjustaboutanykindofsoftware.Ifyou
don'tlikeit,youthrowawaythesandbox,andstart
againwithafreshsandbox.Ontheotherhand,if
youdolikethenewpieceofsoftware,youcan
re-installitoutsidethesandboxsoitbecomesa
permanentpartofyoursystem.

Sandboxieinterceptschangestobothyourfilesand
registrysettings,makingitvirtuallyimpossible
foranysoftwaretoreachoutsidethesandbox.

Sandboxietrapscachedbrowseritemsintothe
sandboxasaby-productofnormaloperation,sowhen
youthrowawaythesandbox,allthehistoryrecords
andotherside-effectsofyourbrowsingdisappearas
well.
